Independent healthcare data research

Clarity from the public healthcare economy.

Taggart Terminal turns publicly available data — federal Transparency in Coverage files, CMS public datasets, and published provider directories — into rigorous, decision-ready research for providers, academic partners, and consumer applications. Public sources only. No protected health information.

Public & permissioned data only No PHI — ever Methodology you can trace

What we do

Three ways we put public data to work

We specialize in one thing: making sense of the growing body of publicly available healthcare pricing and directory data, and turning it into something useful and trustworthy.

📊

Provider Rate Benchmarking

We help healthcare providers understand where their negotiated and reimbursement rates fall relative to the public market, using federal Transparency in Coverage data — so they walk into contracting conversations informed.

🎓

Academic Research Collaboration

We partner with academic and policy researchers studying pricing dynamics, network composition, and access trends across the U.S. healthcare market, supplying clean, well-documented datasets and analysis.

Public Data Validation

We cross-validate provider, plan, and pricing information across independent public sources to improve accuracy and confidence for consumer-facing applications that people rely on.

Our approach

Every figure traces back to a public source

We built Taggart Terminal around a simple discipline: if we can't show you where a number came from, we don't publish it.

  • 1Ingest at scale. We process large machine-readable files — including payer Transparency in Coverage MRFs — that are published under federal rules but are impractical for most teams to use directly.
  • 2Normalize & reconcile. We standardize identifiers, plans, and geographies so data from different sources can be compared on equal footing.
  • 3Cross-check. We validate each dataset against independent public sources before anything reaches a client or research partner.
  • 4Document. Sources and methods travel with the data, so findings are reproducible and defensible.

Data & ethics

A clear line around what we handle

Our entire practice sits on the public side of the line. That's not a limitation — it's the point.

Public & permissioned data only

We work exclusively with data that is published for public use or that we are expressly permitted to access. We do not scrape or handle data we aren't authorized to use.

No protected health information

We do not collect, store, or process PHI or individual patient records. Our work concerns prices, plans, providers, and networks — not patients.

Transparent methodology

Findings are traceable to their sources and reproducible. We'd rather publish a smaller, defensible number than a larger, fragile one.

Independent by design

We are not owned by, and do not act on behalf of, any payer, provider system, or government agency. Our analysis answers to the data.

Work with an independent research partner
